Back to School Bash

Lori Silverman/ Julie Zimmer

This comittee is responsible for the execution of the Braeside Back to School Bash including coordination of games, prizes, food, entertainment, volunteers and publicity. This year's event is scheduled for Sunday, September 10, 2023 and work for this committee begins mid-August.

 

Bobcat Birthdays

This committee is responsible for the installation and breakdown of birthday signs purchased through the Bobcat Birthdays! fundraising initiative. 

 

Book Fair

Book Fair is a Fall event and one of the PTOs largest fundraisers.  The Book Fair Committee works to coordinate volunteers and assist with event logistics such as set-up/break-down and event staffing. The committee also takes responsibility for coordinating the Lunch with a Loved One, Poetry Slam and StoryTime with Teacher events which run in conjunction with the Fair.  This year's event is scheduled for November 13-17 and work for this committee begins mid-October.

 

Braeside Skate

Skate Night is an annual Braeside favorite that takes place at a local skating arena each January/February. Committee members are responsible for the organization of the event including management of vendors, volunteers, refreshments, raffles, ticket sales and publicity.

 

Class Pictures

This committee organizes the school's annual picture day, photo retake day and 5th grade class pictures. Volunteers work with the professionals contracted through the school district.  Dates are set by principal.

  

Community Service

Members of the Community Service Committee work to empower and support students as they learn and develop skills that are essential in successfully completing service projects that positively impact the greater community.  Committee members organize various drives throughout the year and assist with a classroom activity led by the Room Parents.

 

Field Day/ Field Day Picnic

Field Days is an end of year celebration filled with class competitions, games, fun and a family picnic. Volunteers on this committee secure Field Day T-Shirts and supplies and organizing / managing vendors and volunteers.

 

Fifth Grade Promotion

This committee is comprised of 5th grade parents and takes responsibility for all Fifth Grade Promotion activities including a celebration lunch, fundraising for the class gift, Fifth Grade Promotion t-shirts and end of the year party.

 

Food Days

Food Days is a fundraising program that offers Bobcat families the opportunity to order lunches through local vendors and then distributes those lunches to students on a daily basis. 

 

Garden Group

The Garden Group works to maintain and beautify the school's gardens located on the south playground.

 

Green Team

Jamie Smith

The Green Team works with students and staff on environmentally focused projects within the school setting including the Lunchroom Compost Project and events/activities surrounding Earth Day.

  

Boo Boxes / Holiday Hugs

Allie Davidson

Holiday themed fundraisers revolving around Halloween and Valentines Day, Boo Boxes and Holiday Hugs are special gift boxes filled with treats and surprises that Braeside parents can purchase for little Bobcats and their siblings.

 

Hospitality

The Hospitality Committee is responsible for organizing monthly staff breakfasts and lunches, meals during conferences, snacks for the monthly staff meeting, keeping the staff fridge stocked as well as all the activities throughout Teacher Appreciation Week.

 

Library Liaisons

Library Liaisons oversee the training/scheduling of volunteers to assist  the librarian with checking out/in books and other library related activities as well as management of the Celebration Books! program.

 

MLK Day of Service

In recognition of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, this parent run committee provides assistance and support to D112 and the D112 Foundation in the organization of a community related service project and activities surrounding the MLK Day of Service.

 

Room Parents

Abby Daniel / Leslie Hirschfeld / Lauren Rosenbaum

Room Parents are a group of volunteers working specifically to support their child's homeroom teacher. Room Parent responsibilities include organizing the Halloween door decorating and spring service project activities, promoting and gathering classroom support for Braeside events, assisting the PTO during Teacher Appreciation Week and Educating Outside the Lines programming as well as collecting money for, and organizing, holiday and end of the year gifts.  Room Parents are selected at the beginning of each school year.

 

School Supplies

This committee oversees all things related to student school supplies including managing a relationship with the school's chosen supplier and the coordination of a Spring meeting with the  principal and staff to determine inventory.  Volunteers will also publicize and execute the sale of items on line, provide support to families that wish to purchase supplies independently and organize class room distribution in the Fall.

  

Spirit Wear

The Spirit Wear committee is responsible for sales and distribution of Bobcat themed/logoed apparel, school supplies and gifts on the web and at PTO sponsored events. 

 

Square 1 Art

Nikki Brown

In coordination with the school's art teacher, Square 1 Art is a fundraising project in which students create original pieces of art that can then be turned in to keepsake items and gifts made available for purchase to Braeside families and friends.

 

Yearbook

Tracy Bielenberg/ Amalie Drury 

The Yearbook Committee oversees the production of the annual yearbook and is responsible for taking/collecting appropriate photos as well as working with the school's yearbook vendor to format photos and copy in to a final product.
